Northstar Bus Lines and American Student Transportation in Minneapolis teamed up with Chisago County 4 - H to help them with a Lego League research project. This year, the Lego League topic is energy, and the challenge is to find a project and figure out a way to improve it. The Electric School Bus was immediately a topic of interest. We invited the team out for a tour of the Electric Bus and our facilities. Giving them a perfect chance to brainstorm ideas.

Northstar Bus Lines School Bus Driver, Mike Boler, was kind enough to lead the tour. It started on the bus with a brief overview and the major differences between a Diesel Bus. The group was excited and observant. They certainly asked the right questions. Battery life, range of distance, heating options, and charging stations were all discussed. They then checked out underneath the bus and the hood. Some of the younger team members immediately compared the bus to a Tesla. The tour ended with a ride. It will be interesting to find out what the Chisago County 4-H Team decides to tackle when it comes to the Electric School Bus. Watch for an update on this in the near feature.
